AlGammal Holding has taken on the overhead transmission lines that will connect a set of new 220 kV substations in the Nile Delta to the national grid. The client is the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), the state operator of Egypt's high-voltage network.
What the work involves
A substation only serves its area once it is tied into the network around it. The scope covers the 220 kV overhead line work that connects the new substations to the existing grid.
Transmission lines are the sector the group started in. AlGammal Contracting has delivered power transmission and distribution networks for Egyptian utilities since 2009, working as one accountable party from survey and design through construction, testing and handover.
Why it matters
The Delta is one of the most densely populated parts of Egypt, and the new substations raise the capacity available to the towns, factories and farms around them. Connecting them on schedule is what turns that capacity into supply.
