The New Abu Qir development covers 1,400 feddans, a large part of it reclaimed from the sea. A Belgian contractor is dredging in front of the port with two dredgers and building up the land the new city will stand on. On that ground, AlGammal began with the treatment plant and the electrical substation, and is carrying out the roads, the power lines and the wet utility networks that run beneath them.
For Engineer Essam Aziz, who spoke from the project, what stood out was delivery: specifications met, deadlines held, and no gap between what was promised and what arrived on site.
AlGammal's people are highly committed to us, on the specifications and on the timeline, and their quality is excellent. The work is running to schedule with no delays from them, neither in the supply of materials nor in the equipment on site, and they hold to high quality and to safety.
The current stage covers the main roads and the primary utilities. The secondary networks that serve the side streets belong to a later stage, once the Belgian contractor completes reclamation across the remaining land, which is still under way. The main roads come first, and the secondary roads follow as soon as the reclamation is finished.
It is the order AlGammal builds in: the structure and the primary networks first, so everything the city adds later has something dependable to stand on.
